August 2008 Part 1: The Zoo

Though we had gotten a late start with some of the book work, formal ed. stuff, I did make sure to provide other learning opportunities for the girls. This post is on some of the stuff we did in August. We went to the zoo, and I let both the girls and my niece try taking pictures of the animals, and we even would write down the names of the animals we took pictures of so we can research some of them later, and maybe make a project on them. Now that I've gotten into lapbooks, I think this would be a perfect project for that!
Here are some pics we took. The first pic is when we came in the zoo, and I saw a squirrel just chillin' in the shade! I thought he was so cute. And he actually let me get close and take the pic! The second one was taken by either my oldest or my niece. In the 4th pic, all the turkeys were chasing and pecking at the poor baby deer. I felt sorry for it. It wasn't disturbing them, just trying to get away from them, and they wouldn't stop pecking her! It was like 5-10 turkeys against one baby deer. I wished at the time that I could go shoo them all away! I know it's that way in nature, but sometimes animals need protected too! And there was a zoo keeper in the area thatthey lived, but either didn't notice, or something. If they had of been on my farm (when I had one, or when I get one again) I would have saved the baby deer! LOL.
Okay, I still need to learn how to share more photos then just this. So this is it for now. I will go look for how to, some more! I think I saw somewhere that I can make albums, right? LOL.
Next post will be about Faith's lego buildings!
