I honestly didn't know what to title this post, and thought that might be kind of catchy.
Before you read this, this post is for parents only.
I'm sure by now everyone has at least heard of Lady Gaga, and some may even listen to her. For the longest time after I first heard of her, I had no idea who she was, just thought it was some man in drag. Might as well be, wouldn't be any worse! I still don't listen to her music, have never had an interest to, and have even less of an interest now! I'll explain why. And if you don't know anything about her, after you finish reading this, hopefully you can be educated against it.
Which is exactly why I checked her out on tv the other night. After my girls were in bed, I was flipping through channels, and found that one was playing a marathon of her music videos. So, I decided I would flip to it so that way I could be well informed of who she is. Now I wish I could scrub the images out of my mind! If you haven't already, please don't let your kids watch or listen to her! I could only stomach about 2 of her videos, and even that was too much! Here's a short summary of what I saw: BDSM, homosexuality, nudity and partial nudity, other sexual perversions (the videos were so thick with sexuality that not even one second of the videos were without it), murder and mass murder, and a style that made me think of demons and horror movies (I used to be a fan of horror movies, but God turned me away from them). In one video that included Beyonce, Beyonce picked up Lady Gaga after she was released from prison, they head to a diner where Beyonce meets with a man and the two poison his food, therefore killing him in the diner. Lady Gaga is in the kitchen putting the same poison in all the food, killing all of the customers at the diner! Then, to top it off, Beyonce and Lady Gaga, along with their dance team, proceed to dance in the middle of the diner (dressed, of course, practically naked) surrounded by their victims. The camera wasn't shy about showing the victims front and center with the dancing in the background either. Watching it made me nauseous, and writing this makes me sick to my stomach again.
I am writing this so that if there are any parents who read this who don't know anything about her and want to be informed so they can guard their children's minds and hearts as the Bible tells us to do, they can do so. I know so many people now a days seem to be fans of her and find the content in the videos acceptable. I know many might make excuses as to why that stuff is okay, but it's not. No matter how much the world changes, God does not change, and what is acceptable and unacceptable to Him does not change either. The Bible tells us to stay away from these things, to guard what goes into our minds and hearts, and to bring up our children in the way they should go. Watching and listening to stuff like this, or allowing our children to do so is the opposite of what He tells us to do.
I used to be in to listening to secular music only, and there may have been a time when I might have listened to her (but then again, I don't think so, because 1)she's not my taste, 2)I still think I would have been disturbed by these things to at least some degree, at least I hope). But, God brought me out of the life I used to live, out of the things of this world. And after watching this, I now see just how much I really am out and away from these things. I didn't realize just how much, but I am thankful that I am! If this is what the world is finding acceptable and entertaining, I don't want any part of it! I'm happy not listening to or watching the same things! It may have taken some training for me to get away from secular stuff and get used to just listening to and watching more pure, wholesome and godly things, but now I'm glad that I have.

ReplyDeleteThank you for the information on Gaga. I have been seeing her on the news and wondered about her. Now I know.
ReplyDeleteThe trouble with secular movies and music is that it all goes downhill in degrees. Like a frog put into a pan of cold water that is heated slowly on the stove, we're hardly aware that the situation is getting worse. If the frog had been placed in boiling water at the start, he would jump out immediately.
I was a teen in the 1960's and the music of that time seems so tame to what is out there now. The good news is there is Christian music available to us now and even some great Christian movies such as Flywheel, Facing the Giants and Fireproof. It's so important to guard our minds and watch what we put into them. You are SO right. Once the images are there, you can't 'unsee' them.
Thank you!
