So, we scheduled to go Monday and meet the lady and do the test. This round was going to be a written test. We left a few minutes late, and I told the girls we would get some lunch after it was over, since it would last no more than 30 minutes. We got within a few miles down the road from of our destination, when a lady pulled out in front of me. It was one of these times when I saw what was about to happen, but was to close to her to prevent it. I tried anyways, and swerved hard in to the left lane, and slammed on my brakes as hard as I could, so as to avoid the back door where the kids were sitting from getting hit. I hit them so hard, you could probably hear the tires squeal a mile away, lol. I looked later, and didn't see any skid marks, surprisingly. But, anyways. She ended up hitting me just on the right front corner of my car, and made my car kind of bounce, at least from what I can remember of it feeling. It didn't mess my car up too bad, thank God (I know He protected us that day, in more ways then one, which I will get to), but it did make her whole front bumper and grill and all that fall off the front end of her car. I know if I hadn't of reacted and tried to prevent hitting her, and her finally noticing me and I assume she hit her breaks, it could've been worse. I know God's hand was in it for sure too.
Faith instantly started freaking. I later learned, she didn't even see it coming. We can't remember if she was studying her words or not, or if she was looking out her window, or what she was doing, but she wasn't looking ahead of us to see what was about to happen. I know that makes it even more scary. So, she was hysterical, having an all out panic attack. I don't even remember putting the car in park, but I know I did. I jumped out, and opened her door to calm her down. Trinity was in shock, and just looking around with eyes wide open, and speechless. Within seconds, my phone went off from my mom texting. She said she was praying for Faith. I responded by telling her we were just in an accident. I don't know how I managed to type it so fast, and without any mistakes. I was shaking so hard, I could barely see the words on the screen! After I did that, Faith was still panicking, and climbed in the front seat. She was saying that she didn't want to go to spell, and she never wanted to ride in the car again. (The was the first car accident that my kids have ever been in.) She didn't realize at the time that there was no way we were making it to the spelling bee that day. I went and talked to the lady who just hit me, as she was becoming hysterical too. She told me that when she realized I had kids in the car, she about died. She felt horrible and was holding back tears. God protected us all, and none of us even had a scratch.
I went to try and move my car out of the road, seeing as how we were blocking both west bound lanes, and quickly discovered the damage. I had not power steering. I looked later and found that the pulley and belt broke, but other than that, not much damage. So, I couldn't get it out of the road, but got it out of the left lane, where people could at least go around. It also blocked the curb a little. Which was good, because since I couldn't get it out of the road, I got the girls out and sat them on the grass a half way back from the road, in case someone were to drive up and hit the car, they would not be in it and would be safe. After I sat them down, I put my hands on both of them, and bent over them, and all 3 of us prayed that God help us through this, especially with what I'm about to tell you next.
Oh, another miracle. First I have to start with what leads up to it. We have been having financial struggles lately, and recently lost car insurance. I've been busting my butt to get us caught up, and had just succeeded, and was about to get it back that day or the next. So, I had to fess up that I didn't have it. Which is so embarrassing. I'm not the kind to go without it. So, I told the lady. (In this case, I'm glad it wasn't my fault [I've never had one my fault] even though I am sorry for her.)
So, the first officer showed up on the seen, and I immediately told her that I did not have. No reason to drag it out, she needs to know the truth. I can't hide it in this case. While we were sitting there, a Braum's was right behind where I had the girls sitting. A lady not involved pulls up and asks if the girls had eaten lunch yet (remember, I told them I would get them something after the bee, and this was a little after noon). So, she offered to buy them lunch. I wish I could remember her name, so I could pray for her too, but I forgot it amid the chaos.
So, after a while, a male cop shows up, and is so sweet and nice. The two officers talk to the other lady and her mother, then go waaay down behind his car and talk, and shortly after, I noticed the lady cop had left. While the tow truck driver was loading my car, I took the girls in to use the restroom, because the driver said he would give us a ride home. On our way out, the male officer met me at the door, and said that he was not ticketing either one of us! Because he got there so late, he couldn't. WOW! If that wasn't God working to help me out! I know I deserved a ticket for no insurance, and was fully expecting it and was going to except what was coming, and the lady was deserving of one for failure to yield, but what an example of God's grace! He caused the officers to forgive both of us, and not ticket us! I have been so thankful, especially after the officer informed me that my license would have gotten suspended, which I did not know. So, we are not going to be suing the insurance of the other lady. I just don't believe it would be right. I forgive her. It was an accident. I pray that God uses this to bring her to Him (I get the idea she doesn't know Him from a comment she made), and that He blesses the officers and the lady who bought us lunch.
So, what's happened after. Faith couldn't do the test, because it had to be post marked a couple days after, and we had no transportation to get to Edmond the next day. My mom got her taxes and got her a new vehicle the next night though. My brother in law is going to help me with my car, either this one or my other one, and/or let me drive one he has until we fix my other one (more info on that car, including pics, on my myspace page if you have or want to add me there). I got insurance on the new car yesterday too. So, we don't need to sue the lady's insurance. God has blessed me in so many ways. This has also proved to be a blessing in another area, which is a little more personal, but God has used it is the point. "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28
